Boot Camp Workout of the Week

Here is our fitness boot camp workout of the week:

It is a great way to get a full body workout while mixing up your exercise and ensuring you have a bit of fun…

Get a normal pack of playing cards. Shuffle them and put them close by. Each suit of card represents a different exercise category within your workout:

Spades-lower bodyHearts-upper bodyClubs-cardioDiamonds-core

Now, pick 2 cards and perform an exercise from the category listed eg. Let’s assume you draw “hearts” and “spades”. You would then perform an upper body exercise (eg. 10 push-ups) followed immediately by a lower body exercise (eg. 10 squats). You can repeat this a few times (say 3-4 sets).

Then draw your next pair of cards, etc. Continue until the pack of cards runs out OR for 5, 10 or 20 minutes (depending on your fitness level or time availability).

We have had a lot of fun at our boot camp programmes with a pack of cards. There are many many ways to utilise this technique to “spice” up your exercise routine.
